Here are some other great tips from Alyssa Shaffer.

1. Hang around serious runners to get some different little tips.

2. Run every day and give yourself a reason to run.

3. Stay positive and motivated when you run.

4. Find your sweet spots when it comes to working out. Don't work out too much or too little.

5. Don't put too many layers on; dress like it's 10-15 degrees warmer than it really is.

6. Don't do things like partying and drinking a ton of alcohol.

7. Avoid pushing your body too hard. Give it a break if you have to.

8. Don't compare yourself with other people, just focus on your improvements.

9. Never accelerate down a hill, it destroys your knees.

10. Running with others makes it more enjoyable.

11. Strive for bigger and better things.
